By adding nearly 9,000 extra square feet, Weldaloy was able to incorporate two new cranes - one 7.5 ton, the other a 5 ton.

As demand continues to rise for copper and aluminum forged parts from Weldaloy Products in Warren, Michigan, the company has invested significantly to increase capacity. Previously the cutting area of the facility had been sufficient, but cramped. Now by moving the operation to a different building in the complex and expanding, the shop better facilitates operations as Weldaloy responds to the changing needs of customers.

The new saw shop is more than twice the size (15,677 sq. ft. vs 6,720 sq. ft.) of the previous space. By adding nearly 9,000 extra square feet, Weldaloy was able to incorporate two new cranes – one 7.5 ton, the other a 5 ton. The previous shop only had one 5 ton crane.

However, the expansion is about more than just adding new equipment – it also dramatically improves the work area. The extra space has been optimized to allow for better efficiencies in the manufacturing process. The end result? Weldaloy can do more work faster, while maintaining a quality rate higher than 99%.

Kurt Ruppenthal, Vice President & Chief Manufacturing Executive at the company, said the following in regards to the recently expanded space: “For many years we’ve gotten everything we could out of our space – the time had come to expand the saw shop. We’re incredibly grateful for the satisfied customers that come back to us for orders, and the new customers who need our expertise; now we can better meet their needs while maintaining our high quality standards.”
