G.I. Jobs® Releases Hot Franchises for Veterans™ - Top franchise businesses provide opportunities for veterans to be their own boss
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) May 19, 2015 -- G.I. Jobs®, the premier resource for helping transitioning service members find success in civilian careers, today released its 2015 Hot Franchises For Veterans™. The list includes 12 nationally recognized franchises that are committed to recruiting, training and providing incentives for veterans seeking post-military careers. Aspiring “vetrepreneurs” can leverage the list to find the franchise concept that best fits their lifestyle, budget and skills. The list is published in the June issue of G.I. Jobs® and can be viewed online at http://www.gijobs.com/top-12-hot-franchises-veterans-2015.
Hot Franchises for Veterans™ includes the top companies in a diverse group of business categories ranging from travel to fitness, all sharing a common interest in recruiting more owner-operators with military experience. Tim Courtney, CFE and Vice President of Franchise Development and Ambassador of Veteran Affairs at CruiseOne, explains why.
“We recognize and embrace the fact that many of the skills veterans learn in the military translate well to franchising, making them among our most successful franchisees,” says Courtney. “Similar to the military, franchises run on systems and there is a strong sense of camaraderie.”
A 2014 study prepared by Franchise Business Review for the International Franchise Association (IFA) found that, since 2011, 203,000 veterans and military spouses have started careers in franchising. In total, 198,282 veterans found employment in franchising between 2011 and October 2014. Additionally, the survey showed an increase in veteran franchise ownership, bringing the total of veteran franchise owners since 2011 to 5,608.
“It’s clear from the numbers that successful businesses like those on our Hot Franchises for Veterans™ list recognize that veterans are among the best employees around,” says Sean Collins, Vice President for Military Products at Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and post-9/11 Navy veteran. “Skills and traits learned in military service—leadership, being a quick learner, determination, following operational procedures and leveraging all available resources—are used each and every day to run a franchise.”
Veterans interested in owning a franchise should carefully research business opportunities to understand the total up-front investment, including franchise fees, net worth requirements, along with military discounts and incentives, as well as ongoing training, operations, reporting, sales, marketing and financial commitments required of both parties. Future business owners should also consider the company’s growth outlook.
