The 2015 Hyundai Sonata Named IIHS Top-21 Safest Cars For Teen Drivers
Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) October 27, 2014 -- The 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sedan earns top honors in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s recommendations for teen drivers. Through intensive research and evaluation, IIHS’s studies show that the 2015 Hyundai Sonata is one of the most affordable, safety-conscious vehicles on the road.
Car crashes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, remain the leading cause of death among Americans between ages 15 and 19. It is imperative that cars for teens perform at a high level in safety and crash prevention tests.
The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is equipped with advanced safety technology, including Electronic Stability Control for added protection against sudden spinouts and rollovers. The Sonata also features Lane Change Assistance, which measures the closing speed of an approaching vehicle in the adjacent lane to determine whether changing lanes is safe. If unsafe, the vehicle gives the driver an audible and visual warning.
The Sonata also received high marks, based on the IIHS’s crash-test criteria, performing well in a series of tests, such as the moderate-overlap front-crash protection, side-crash protection, head restraints and seats for rear crash protection and roof strength to protect occupants in rollover crashes. All of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata’s safety features added up to high scores in overall safety categories.
The IIHS recommendations on teen vehicle choice are guided by four main principles: Young drivers should stay away from high horsepower; bigger, heavier vehicles protect better in a crash; Electronic Stability Control is a must; vehicles should have the best safety ratings possible.
