Dr. Charles S. Theofilos of The Spine Center Holding February Lectures to Discuss Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy
West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 10, 2016 -- On Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, Charles S. Theofilos, M.D., presented a successful "Lunch and Learn" lecture at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL, wherein he discussed the benefits of regenerative stem cell therapy in treating a variety of conditions in both humans and animals. And on Feb. 12, 2016, Dr. Theofilos will present another "Lunch and Learn" presentation at the Jupiter Medical Center, where he will share his professional insight on the link between lifestyle and chronic back pain.
Dr. Theofilos is a board certified neurosurgeon and founder of The Spine Center, where he uses a three-step process to treat osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, back pain, and other painful conditions using stem cells. Unlike controversial embryonic stem cell research, regenerative stem cell therapy uses the patient's own stem cells to help rebuild the damaged spinal discs that cause pain.
In part, Dr. Theofilos is participating in these lunchtime lectures to raise awareness of this promising three-step process. First, a centrifuge is used to separate platelet-rich plasma from the patient's blood. Then, stem cells are harvested from the patient's hip and injected into the damaged spinal disc. Finally, the PRP and other separated proteins are also injected into the disc, which can dramatically improve the healing process.
At the Feb. 4 lecture, Dr. Theofilos discussed the process and benefits of these treatments with The Wellington Club at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center. Dr. Theofilos appeared alongside veterinarian Dr. Bruce Coren of Diowave Laser Systems, which co-sponsored the event with The Spine Center.
At the Feb. 12 lecture, Dr. Theofilos will discuss the direct link between chronic back pain and posture, diet, smoking, stress, excessive exercise, and other lifestyle risk factors. The event is free to attend; interested visitors can register on the Jupiter Medical Center website.
"The first event has gone so well, and we're really looking forward to the next event where we can discuss ways not only to treat back pain, but also to prevent it," said Dr. Theofilos.
