Messinas Launches Growing Gardeners™ Campaign

New Jersey company launches multi-faceted campaign to grow the lawn and garden industry with a focus on youth and innovation

We see the Growing Gardeners message as one that will benefit our entire industry as we grow the gardeners of tomorrow.

Messinas, a New Jersey based manufacturer of lawn and garden products, today announced their new Growing Gardeners™ campaign to kick off 2016. The campaign targets both the needs of gardeners actively involved in gardening as well as introducing the joy of gardening to an entirely new customer base.

“The Growing Gardeners campaign, while focusing our corporate messaging, is, frankly, bigger than Messinas,” said Vice President James Messina. “This campaign is more than just a plan for how we plan to grow our bottom line; we see the Growing Gardeners message as one that will benefit our entire industry as we grow the gardeners of tomorrow. Messinas knows that the time is now for us to step up and do our part as good stewards of an important industry, that traces its history back thousands of years, if it is going to continue to survive for another thousand.”

Recent trends in the lawn and garden industry have shown that our customer base is aging, declining, and unable to capture the interest of the younger demographic. Messinas sees this opportunity as an opening for an active dialogue with would-be-gardeners; to understand their needs and respond with a swiftness expected in the digital age.

“It’s a holistic approach, really,” Messina added, “in which companies need to have a conversation with folks and not just yell from the mountain tops, hoping they’ll be heard because they’re the loudest. In an age where every company has a digital presence, businesses have to engage their audience and understand their needs if they’re going to break out and make a difference. I know there are companies who have more tools at their disposal than Messinas has, but I’m not convinced that they know how to use them better than we do.”

As part of the campaign, Messinas will be integrating the Growing Gardeners branding into their packaging and launching multiple community sites for gardeners to learn, share and communicate with each other on a variety of topics from traditional to indoor gardening.
