HNTB Names Michael Sweeney as Northeast Division President
NEW YORK (PRWEB) January 05, 2016 -- Michael Sweeney, PE, has been promoted to Northeast Division president of HNTB Corporation, overseeing 850 employees in 13 locations across 10 states. He will continue to be based in the firm’s New York City office.
Sweeney has served as HNTB’s New York office leader and senior vice president since joining the firm in 2013. In that time, the office has grown more than 200 percent to be the largest in the firm. In 2014, he also was named chairman of HNTB professional services, integrating and aligning the firm’s market sectors and services to help transportation agencies maximize opportunities throughout the U.S.

Sweeney’s 30 years of experience includes major transit, transportation, construction design and management programs throughout the Northeast and across the country. Before joining HNTB, he served in leadership roles on regional and national transit programs for two other major consulting firms.
He is an active member of the American Public Transportation Association, including the high-speed rail committee, the Women’s Transportation Seminar, the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the Metropolitan Railway Association. Sweeney also is a board member of the Regional Plan Association and a board member of the New York Building Congress Foundation.
Sweeney holds a Master of Science in construction engineering and management from Polytechnic Institute of New York University and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Pratt Institute.
