Optoma Unveils a CES Exclusive Technology Demo – The World’s First 4K HLD Projector
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) January 07, 2016 -- Optoma Technology, Inc. announced they are set to showcase the home entertainment technology of the future; available and within reach today here at CES 2016. The 4K UHD projector will be a show exclusive in the Optoma Booth. Based on proven DLP Cinema® technology, the imaging choice for more than eight of 10 digital theater screens worldwide, the DLP 4K UHD chipset combines the fast switching speed of the digital micro mirror device (DMD) with advanced image processing. This latest DLP offering in a single chip architecture enables the type of high resolution and high brightness solutions Optoma is known for.
“As 4K content is finally becoming more common and accessible, the timing is right for a premium 4K viewing technology solution for the home consumer market”, says Jon Grodem, Senior Director of Product Management. “Having the first 4K UHD DLP single-chip projector shown at CES marks an important strategic position for Optoma to advance our high end product offering and be the leader in the high performance projection market.”
The DLP 4K UHD solution leverages the fast speed of the chip with advanced image processing to deliver more than 8 million pixels to the screen with 4 million mirrors. Each mirror is capable of switching over 9,000 times per second, creating two distinct and unique pixels on the screen during every frame to deliver full 4K UHD resolution. This DLP chipset also has precise pixel alignment and no HUE purple effect thanks to the DLP Technology advantages.
“4K UHD comes to life when all of the details in the content are accurately displayed,” said Dave Duncan, DLP Products business manager, Texas Instruments. “We are pleased that Optoma is demonstrating with their projector the ability to incorporate a 4K UHD display chip that’s roughly the same size as our 1080p chip, this new solution from TI DLP Products can be a game changer for the industry.”
Optoma introduced the first 1080p LED High Lumen Density projector at InfoComm in June of this year and is excited to again hold an industry first by featuring the technology progression from 1080p HLD to 4K.
Grodem adds, “HLD technology will enable a new generation of far brighter LED DLP projectors with industry leading color performance and accuracy. Optoma is proud to be leading the effort and introducing it to the home theater market in 2016.”
