Gilbane Begins Construction on Gavilan College in Coyote Valley
(PRWEB) January 11, 2016 -- Gilbane Building Company, a global leader in construction services, is happy to announce that construction has begun on the Gavilan Joint Community College District project. This is a long-awaited project for the college community. In 2004, voters of the Gavilan Joint Community College District passed Bond Measure E, providing funds to upgrade the Gilroy campus and to establish future campuses at the northern and southern ends of the district.
The Coyote Valley site encompasses 55 acres located on Bailey Road in San Jose. When completely built out, the new campus will accommodate up to 10,000 students. Gilbane is the construction management company overseeing the project. The campus will be approximately 28,800 square feet and consist of five single story modular buildings that include classrooms and specialized facilities for the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium program.
“This project has been in the works for over 12 years”, says Casey Michaelis, Senior Project Executive, Gilbane Building Company, “this is a very exciting time for the District and community and we are happy to be a part of this important project”.
The purpose of this effort is to create a facility that will meet the future needs of community college students by providing education opportunities and by providing curricular opportunities for adult students.
