Job Training Nonprofit Year Up Chosen as New ALEX AND ANI | CHARITY BY DESIGN® Partner
Providence, Rhode Island (PRWEB) January 08, 2016 -- Honoring Year Up’s innovative and effective approach to job training for disconnected young adults, ALEX AND ANI has designed a new charm bracelet called “The Knight,” which will be officially available for purchase on January 16th. This new bracelet will be launching as part of the CHARITY BY DESIGN collection where Year Up will receive twenty percent of the purchase price from each The Knight Charm bracelet sold, with a minimum donation of $25,000, between January 2016 and December 2016. Fans are being encouraged to take part in the exciting conversation on social media while having the chance to be one of the first to receive The Knight Charm Bangle starting tomorrow, January 9th, via a contest hosted on Twitter by ALEX AND ANI. Fans are invited to follow @alexandani and retweet their post going up at noon about the launch for the opportunity to win.
“We designed the 3D knight chess piece to represent the deliberate and necessary steps that young adults take throughout the Year Up program to reach their potential and enter a rewarding career,” said Nicki Maher, SVP of Global Brand Relations at ALEX AND ANI. “We’ve hosted eight Year Up interns at ALEX AND ANI since 2014 and are continually impressed with their perseverance, skills and talent, all of which are skills needed in the game of chess.”
One of the first Year Up graduates to work at ALEX AND ANI World Headquarters was hired in early 2015 as a full-time employee of the Global Brand Relations team. ALEX AND ANI also fully supports Year Up’s mentorship program by pairing its executives with students about to start their careers.
“We’re thrilled to partner with ALEX AND ANI as we continue to grow Year Up to reach even more young adults in need of an opportunity,” said Gerald Chertavian, Year Up Founder and CEO. “ALEX AND ANI has been an enthusiastic supporter of our program and students, and their new design will help spread awareness of Year Up across the US.”
Launched in Boston in 2000, Year Up currently has sites in 16 cities, including Providence. The program provides low-income young adults, ages 18-24, with six months of technical and professional skills training followed by a six-month corporate internship at companies like ALEX AND ANI. Eighty-five percent of graduates are employed or attending college fulltime within four months of completing the program, with average starting salaries of $36,000/year.
The Knight Charm Bangle benefiting Year Up will be available at ALEX AND ANI stores nationwide, alexandani.com and authorized retailers. The bangle will retail for $28.
