Infinite Campus was selected by West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools (District 197) as its new student information system (SIS) to connect stakeholders with better tools for instruction and data management. Infinite Campus provides the district with a full featured, locally supported solution at a lower cost than its legacy system.

“We’re excited about the move to Infinite Campus,” says Dave Sandum, the district’s Director of Technology. “Their software will provide teachers and staff with easy access to data and give them better reporting capabilities, which they can use to modify their teaching and make better instructional decisions. The product also integrates well with the other systems we currently use, it has an intuitive workflow and a secure, robust functionality that will help us streamline processes and manage our student data. And with Campus, we save more than $33,000 per year over what we pay now for our SIS."

The district began evaluating its legacy system in early 2015. Administrators gathered feedback over several months from teachers, staff, students and parents through focus groups and online surveys.

“The survey indicated there was redundancy in entering information and therefore opportunity for errors,” says Sandum. “Additionally, the product was not easy to navigate. And from a district standpoint, we’re all about data-driven decision making but accessing data to predict outcomes was a challenge.”

The district reviewed six systems before deciding Infinite Campus would best meet its needs.

“Having a company that understands the state nuances and that can locally support Minnesota districts is very much a positive,” says Sandum. “Infinite Campus listens to customers and frequently modifies its products. They are more interested in providing benefits to districts than about making profits because their passion is improving learning.”

The district is scheduled to go-live in July 2016.
