Lucas Group’s Lee Cohen Places 2,500+ U.S. Military Members In Civilian Careers
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 14, 2016 -- About every three days for the past 26 years, Lee Cohen has celebrated a new beginning by congratulating a U.S. Military member for embarking on his or her well-suited civilian career. In each of these moments, Cohen’s consultative guidance and recruitment expertise served as the critical link between military professional and hiring company. This month, roles are reversed and Lucas Group congratulates Cohen on making his 2,500th candidate placement since joining the executive recruiting firm in 1989.
“Lee’s outstanding accomplishments in military transition and executive recruiting are akin to the athletic achievements of Michael Jordan, Cal Ripken Jr., Lou Gehrig and Brett Favre all rolled into one,” said Bryan Zawikowski, Vice President and General Manager of Military Transition at Lucas Group. “Day after day and year after year, Lee brings knowledge, skill and an unrelenting commitment to matching transitioning military officers with highly desirable career opportunities in civilian companies. His professional tenacity and personal dedication to every veteran and hiring company he works with have proven to be the hallmarks of his distinguished career.”
Cohen joined the firm following his own transition from active duty in the U.S. Navy. Originally from Atlanta, he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1982, served as a submarine officer, is a licensed professional engineer and retired in 2013 as a Commander from the Navy Reserves. Today, Cohen serves as Executive Senior Partner in Lucas Group’s Military Transition Division and is based in the company’s Irvine, CA office.
“I’ve had the great opportunity to experience two worthwhile and gratifying careers,” said Cohen. “My Navy career helped me create the building blocks for my recruiting career, and it reminds me that the military officers I work with every day are constructing their own building blocks. My job is to help them translate and leverage those valuable skills and talents to achieve their own professional goals and personal dreams.”
An expert in transition and career issues, Cohen has been quoted in Fortune Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg and interviewed by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper.
In addition, he has provided relevant guidance to the U.S. Navy, speaking on recruitment and transition issues to military leaders around the world, including at the Pentagon. This symbiotic relationship enables him to assist highly-talented, game-changing military leaders find and launch rewarding civilian careers.
“A few people have asked me if, after more than a quarter century of working in this field, I intend to retire and sleep in,” continued Cohen. “But when you’ve had the chance to help make meaningful, positive change in someone’s life, sleeping in just doesn’t cut it. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented people over the years—thousands of highly capable military leaders as well as forward-thinking, business-focused hiring managers. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, and I look forward to working with many more to come.”
Cohen lives in Southern California with his wife and three children.
