GivingWay announces the launch of the GivingWay™ platform – an online market network for directly connecting between prospective volunteers and grassroots organizations all over the world, cutting out both middlemen and agent fees (givingway.com).
GivingWay™ is a unique online platform that provides grassroots organizations with various services and SaaS tools for managing their workflow with volunteers, making it easier, quicker, and more effective for organizations to recruit and work with volunteers. Such services include communications, application, scheduling and engagement tools - all of which are provided free of charge.
In addition to the tools provided to organizations, GivingWay™ will provide various services to volunteers to assist in planning, preparing and making the most of their volunteering trip such as peer-based reviews & ratings of organizations and educational content on responsible volunteering.
According to the company’s founder and CEO, Orit Strauss, “when I volunteered with local NGOs on the Thai-Burma border 17 years ago volunteering was pretty straightforward and nobody thought of charging broker fees for volunteering. Over the past decade volunteering abroad has become extremely popular, resulting in massive commercialization and pocketing of high fees by middlemen rather than having funds go to the local communities themselves. On this basis GivingWay™ was founded - we believe volunteering should be simple, it should be free, and if any funds are involved they should go directly to the local communities.”
The GivingWay™ platform will:
1. Make it simple and easy for anyone to volunteer anywhere in the world;
2. Eliminate agent “volunteering fees”;
3. Increase impact by shifting focus to each organization’s actual needs;
4. Promote responsible, respectful and ethical volunteering; and
5. Create a community of like-minded folks interested in responsible volunteering.
About GivingWay™: The GivingWay™ platform was created in 2015 by founders Orit Strauss, Alon Elish and Gigi Levy-Weiss. The company’s goal is to mend certain problems associated with the international volunteering “industry” by making the matching process between individuals and organizations accessible, mutually-beneficial and impactful. While no fees are charged for the matching of volunteers and organizations, the company will be seeking to generate revenues from supplementary services that will be offered to site users in the future such as travel related goods and services.
