Influencers (bloggers, social media mavens and digital word-of-mouth experts) can create profiles in the Fresh Press Media Marketplace by entering information about their sphere of influence. With a few clicks they can connect their social media accounts and blog analytics to showcase the influence they have across platforms for one or many topics/niches. Advertisers (or PR professionals and agencies on behalf of advertisers and brands) can also create profiles in the marketplace to showcase their companies, brands and products.
The initial functionality of marketplace supports sponsored posts. Advertisers will create opportunities for influencers to participate in campaigns by writing a blog post, sending a tweet, posting a photo to Instagram and so on. Influencers will apply for the opportunities, and if approved will complete the required steps to earn their fee.
The company plans on expanding past the sponsored post, adding a broad range of outlet types and compensation models over the next year.
“We want to bring a level of sophistication to the influencer marketing channel,” said the company’s CEO, Rachel Honoway. “Millions of dollars are flowing between brands and bloggers each year and much of that is done through individual email threads. We want to get these deals out of the inbox, and into an open marketplace that is data-driven, making rates, performance and value transparent across the market.”
To encourage participation from advertisers and influencers of all sizes, the company has decided to launch with a transactional pricing model. Advertisers can create campaigns and sift through applications before paying. It’s only when they choose an influencer that they are charged (to cover the fee they’ve promised the influencer and a percentage for the company’s fee).
