Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester Receives Grant from the Dow Chemical Company Foundation
White Plains, NY (PRWEB) January 18, 2016 -- The Dow Chemical Company Foundation has awarded a $1,000 grant to Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) in support of their volunteer program.
The grant is part of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation’s support to local communities where employees and retirees live. The grant is made in recognition of the value of hospice in a community's health care system and to honor the hospice volunteers for their special contribution.
Each of HPCW’s volunteers brings his or her special talents and is trained in a specific area of service. Volunteer services are offered to all hospice patients and their families. Jaquelyn Pirri, a member of HPCW’s Development Committee and former Board Chair, played an integral role in HPCW securing the grant.
“Hospice volunteers are a special and necessary member of the care team. They understand the challenges that patients and their families face when confronted with a life-limiting illness,” said Mary K. Spengler, MS, executive director of HPCW. “Our organization is grateful to Ms. Pirri and the Dow Chemical Company for their continued support of our volunteers.”
