Operation Homefront, the national non-profit that builds strong, stable, and secure military families, announced today it has earned its ninth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. This is the top rating awarded by the charity watchdog organization. Operation Homefront is the largest (by revenue) military support nonprofit to receive Charity Navigator’s 4-star evaluation.
“I wish to congratulate Operation Homefront on achieving our coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.”
“Americans across the country have shown a very strong desire to support our military and veteran families and they often rely heavily on the experts in the rating agencies to help them find the right fit,” said Brig Gen (ret) John I. Pray, Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “Our nine years of top ratings from such a highly-respected organization as Charity Navigator shows they can count on Operation Homefront to deliver meaningful and impactful assistance to those who truly needed and deserve our very best support—our troops and their families.”
Only one percent of the charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least nine consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Operation Homefront outperforms most other charities in America. This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Operation Homefront from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.
In the nonprofit world, having 85 percent of total revenue going to programs is considered excellent. Operation Homefront exceeds those expectations with over 90 percent of expenditure going directly to programs that serve military families.
