Choosing a task management app can feel overwhelming given the sheer scale of solutions on the market.
(PRWEB) January 22, 2016
Adding to the release of its new project management rankings for Q1 2016, cloud-based business apps marketplace GetApp has launched a new GetRank of the top 25 task management solutions. Wrike came out as number one once again, adding to its first place rankings in project management, project portfolio management, and project collaboration. Runner up was CRM/project management hybrid Insightly, with drag and drop-friendly Trello in third.
Based on five data points, the goal of the ranking is to provide small and medium-sized business owners with a first look at the top cloud-based task management solutions for their company. The data points include user reviews, mobile app availability, integrations, security, and media presence, all scored out of 20 for a total possible score out of 100.
User reviews are based on the number and average rating of reviews, while mobile app scores are based on the availability of an iOS and Android app and their corresponding ratings in the app stores. Integrations come from the number of product integrations listed on GetApp, while security data is collected from vendors using a security survey, which is based on the Cloud Security Alliance’s Self-Assessment Form. Media presence is scored based on the number of Twitter followers and Facebook fans an app vendor has.
Wrike topped the list thanks to ample positive user reviews. Trello scored well for its highly rated iOS and Android apps, while Insightly tied Wrike for having lots of integrations with a score of 18, although 11th place JIRA had the highest score in the category with roughly 68 integrations for 20 points. Scoring highest for media integrations was crowd favorite Asana, while 18th place Planbox Work took the lead for having the highest security score with an 18/20.
“Choosing a task management app can feel overwhelming given the sheer scale of solutions on the market. When choosing, it’s important to consider how the solution can integrate with your current application stack, as well as the project management philosophies it aligns with and the scope for team collaboration. Mobile capabilities are also an essential consideration so that you can track, manage, and complete tasks away from the office,” said James Thornton, chief editor at GetApp and AppStorm.
