Codan Radio Communications, a division of Codan Limited (ASX-CDA), has announced the launch of the Patrol Manpack, a High Frequency (HF) manportable radio that builds on the strengths of their 2110 Manpack series, with the addition of a new rugged Smart Handset, in conjunction with new waveform upgrades providing unsurpassed voice clarity.

The Patrol Manpack is the lightest HF manpack available, has the longest battery life and now can provide voice clarity that is comparable to cellular phones. The addition of the smart handset enables full radio control in the palm of your hand along with increased flexibility to locate the transceiver wherever it suits the operation.

“We’re seeing an increase in demand from peacekeeping operations, NGO’s and the military market for the next generation of our rugged and secure platform from long range digital radio – we’re responding with our tough new Patrol Manpack series” said Steven Jenkins, VP & General Manager, Codan Radio Communications Australia.

“As we continue to invest in the military and security market, we are innovating to ensure our customers get the latest technology at the most cost effective price. We listen to what our customers want then ensure we exceed their expectations. The new rugged smart handset, driven by customer requirements, is the perfect example of this,” said Mr Jenkins.

The Patrol Manpack is available in two models, the standard Patrol 2110 designed for long range communications for humanitarian and public safety organisations and the Patrol 2110M with high grade frequency hopping and advanced encryption. Both models are available with the rugged smart handset which was designed based on feedback from customers on their preference for ergonomics and keypad profile.

The Patrol Manpack launch continues a period of strategic innovation and growth for Codan Radio who will be launching new Land Mobile Radio and HF products to market in March and April 2016 respectively, along with staff growth in the Dubai office and the move of its Australian headquarters to a new modern facility in Mawson Lakes, South Australia.
