U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts to Speak at New England Law | Boston
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) January 28, 2016 -- Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr., will speak at New England Law | Boston on February 3, in a question-and-answer session with Dean John F. O’Brien about his own legal career, the Supreme Court, advice for law students and other topics.
Roberts, who recently marked his 10th year as chief justice, was the youngest chief justice in more than two centuries when he took his seat in 2005, and he is the latest Supreme Court justice to visit New England Law. New England Law has hosted some of the nation’s foremost judges, including Justices Harry Blackmun, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anthony Kennedy, Sandra Day O’Connor, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas.
"It is a great honor for New England Law to host Chief Justice Roberts,” said Dean O’Brien. “Chief Justice Roberts has had a significant impact on our country in his decade leading the Supreme Court, and we are pleased that students and other members of the New England Law community will have an opportunity to hear firsthand from the most prominent member of our nation’s judicial system.”
Chief Justice Roberts’s visit, which includes meeting with students during classes, is the highlight of New England Law’s annual Law Day celebration. The question-and-answer session will be followed by a banquet for more than 1,000 people, including some of the most prominent members of the Massachusetts legal community. In 1958, President Eisenhower proclaimed the first Law Day a “day of national dedication to the principle of government under law.” New England Law has celebrated Law Day with annual events and speakers since 1970.
