“Improving Communications in Dementia Care” Program with Teepa Snow released by Pines of Sarasota Education & Training Institute
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) February 02, 2016 -- Pines of Sarasota Education & Training Institute announces the release of its new dementia care DVD, “Improving Communications in Dementia Care”.
Presented by nationally renowned dementia expert Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, this program offers practical tips for having productive conversations with a person living in the early stages of dementia, as well as how to help families, professionals and outsiders understand how to provide more effective support.
“Getting important information across is one of the greatest challenges in dementia care,” Teepa Snow explains. “As the disease progresses the affected person’s ability to comprehend decreases. This change makes it essential that care providers and partners learn new communication skills that can safeguard their relationship and offer the best care possible. Being able to share these skills with others greatly increases the chances of an effective care team by helping families and professionals stay connected and work together to meet the individual’s needs.”
“Misunderstandings and conflict easily arise when dementia is involved”, JoAnn Westbrook, Director of Education, explains. “Knowing how to best help people understand and accept what is, let go of what’s past, and prepare for what’s to come sets the foundation for the best possible outcomes of this very difficult journey of dementia. No one offers truly practical, hands-on skills for people caring for a person living with dementia like Teepa Snow. We’re honored to be able to partner with her and bring those skills to people’s homes worldwide to help those living with dementia live a better life.”
This program is now available on DVD at https://dementiacareacademy.com/show_program/196, and per online video streaming in the near future.
