Siborg Systems Inc. has recently redesigned and relaunched their LCR-Reader Store; to celebrate, they have extended their Cyber Monday sale until January 31st, 2016. The sale begins at midnight on Monday, January 25th and will end at 11:59 pm EST on January 31st, 2016. The Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader LCR-meters, Smart LED Test Tweezers and the new Task Kits will be offered for a 10% discount.
LCR-Reader and Smart Tweezers digital LCR-meters are an efficient alternative to testing and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology with conventional bench-type testers. Conventional testers require users to use both hands to work the wire leads and set-up between measurements; Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader eradicate wasted time. The design is key; the combination of a set of gold-plated tweezers with a highly accurate LCR-meter that is able to automatically determine the type of component and best test parameters with just a touch. When a component is between the tips, the device will automatically determine the type of component and the best test parameters before measuring and display the results on the embedded OLED display.
The LCR-Reader is the lower cost model in the Smart Tweezers line of LCR-meters. Retailing for less than $200 USD, the LCR-Reader offers the same function as Smart Tweezers but with fewer features and a slightly lower basic accuracy of 0.5/1%. The devices’ one-button navigation allows to quickly change the measurement mode when pressed. LCR-Reader features include: automatic and manual L, C, R and ESR measurements, best range selection, and 0.5/1% basic accuracy. In late 2015, Siborg sent 4 randomly selected LCR-Readers to Navair Technologies, one of Canada’s top calibration houses. The results that were sent back were better than expected; it was previously believed that the LCR-Reader had a basic accuracy of 1%, while the results placed it closer to 0.5%.
The leading model available in the Smart Tweezers line is the Smart Tweezers ST-5S. This model is the leading model in the line, with more features, a higher basic accuracy of 0.2% and comes with an NIST traceable calibration certificate which is required for companies. The ST-5S uses a joystick-like navigation that allows users to quickly change main functions without having to access the menus, such as the test mode and test signal levels; to set more specific parameters, enter the menu where features like hold, null, and offset subtraction functions can be found. The ST-5S has features like:
-Automatic and manual L, C, R and ESR measurements
-0.2% basic accuracy
-Component sorting with 1, 5, 10 and 20% tolerances
-Continuity and diode testing
-Semi-automatic offset subtraction
-NIST traceable calibration certificate
Both ST-5S and LCR-Reader are powered by Li-Ion batteries and are rechargeable via micro-USB. Each only weigh 1 oz. and come in a hard-shelled carrying case making them ultimately portable for work in the field.
Siborg has begun offering a new device, the Smart LED Test Tweezers. This device is mainly used for testing LEDs using a 12 VDC output with variable current ratings of 5, 10 and 20 mAs. The Smart LED Test Tweezers can also test switches, fuses, and wire connections, and using the included connector cable, it can be connected to an LCR-meter to be used as tweezer probes.
To celebrate the launch of the LCR-Reader Store’s redesign, Siborg began offering Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader Task Kits. These kits include a device and extra accessories, ie: an ST-5S device with extra bent probes and an extra battery, or an LCR-Reader device with power cable and extra tips. These kits allow customers to buy extra parts with a lower price than buying each piece separately.
