National Social Security Advisor Training Offered in 25 Cities Nationwide
CINCINNATI, Oh. (PRWEB) January 29, 2016 -- National Social Security Advisor (NSSA) will offer 36 live, all-day Social Security education courses in 25 cities this year for professional advisors seeking education on the Social Security program.
“We have seen an increased demand for Social Security education since Congress enacted a new law last fall limiting claiming strategies,” said Marc Kiner, partner at Premier Social Security Consulting in Cincinnati, which teaches the NSSA Advisor program. “Retirees and those seeking to retire soon are anxious to learn what claiming options are left open to them and professional advisors who counsel them are eager to keep current on recent changes to the system in order to counsel their clients wisely.
“Baby Boomers are living longer and face retirements that could last 30 to 40 years. Maximizing Social Security income has become increasingly important for many people’s retirement portfolios so they don’t outlive their money.”
The NSSA has added six new cities to its national training roster this year: New Orleans, Feb. 16; Charlotte, NC, July 14; Seattle, Aug. 18; Portland, Aug. 19; Washington, DC, Aug. 23; and Los Angeles, Oct. 7.
Twelve monthly webinars are planned to provide ongoing Social Security education and support. A live webinar on Monday, March 21 will feature Rachel Sheedy, managing editor of Kiplinger Retirement Report in Washington, D.C. Sheedy will speak on questions she gets from readers and the columns she writes on Social Security.
Other NSSA webinar topics will include “Social Security Marketing” with guests The Society for Financial Awareness and Social Security 567.
On-demand classes are also available.
Under the new Congressional law passed in late 2015, popular claiming strategies such as Restricted Application and File and Suspend are being phased out. Other options to coordinate spousal benefits now come to the top, said Kiner, to maximize Social Security benefits.
“People still need to look at the options available to them to make sure they optimize Social Security income over their lifetimes,” said Kiner.
Costs for the NSSA courses and webinars range from $795 for education and certification at a live, all-day course; $595 for education and certification at a webinar on demand; and $595 for education and certification on demand.
Premier Social Security Consulting of Cincinnati was founded by partners Kiner and Jim Blair, a 35-year veteran of the Social Security Administration, in 2010. They present NSSA education courses to CPAs, financial advisors, insurance agents, enrolled agents, and other professional advisors across the nation and award the NSSA Advisor advisor certificate to advisors who take the course and pass an assessment. There are currently 900 certified NSSA Advisors nationwide.
With 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 each day in the U.S. for the next 15 years, the men feel they’ve captured an important demographic. There are nearly 80 million Baby Boomers nationwide, which make up 26 percent of the U.S. population, according to the Pew Research Center. Boomers consist of people born between the years of 1946 and 1964.
