NORTHFIELD, MINN. (PRWEB) February 01, 2016
Main Street Project (http://www.mainstreetproject.org) announced today that the nonprofit has been awarded $20,000 from the TechFoundation’s TechGrants program. The grant funding will be used to establish a system for the collection of farm-level data that supports rigorous, system-level scientific analysis of Main Street Project’s regenerative agriculture system.
In the coming year, Main Street Project will engage in a multi-phase process of evaluating, establishing, testing, updating and publishing data collection protocols in preparation for the launch of system-wide data collection efforts at every facility in every location where Main Street Project’s system of regenerative agriculture has been implemented (currently Northfield, Minnesota; Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota; San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico; and Honduras).
Grant funding will support a multi-phased approach to the project including establishing a scientific advisory board, creating protocols for data collection, testing and revisions of protocols and the launching of the system.
“At Main Street Project, we’re advancing our mission by creating a small-scale poultry-based system that is not only ecologically restorative and sustainable, but also accessible to all farmers,” explains Niel Ritchie, chief executive officer for Main Street Project. “We’re thankful to TechFoundation for their support in helping us to invest in the technology needed to take our models and systems to scale.”
