HNTB Corporation, an employee-owned infrastructure solutions firm serving public and private owners and contractors, has been selected employer of the year by the Greater New York chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar. The award will be presented at a recognition dinner on Jan. 28, 2016.

WTS is an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women. It has more than 5,000 members, both women and men, in chapters located in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from WTS New York,” said Mike Sweeney, PE, HNTB president Northeast division. “HNTB is an advocate for the professional advancement of women, and men, working in the transportation industry, and actively supports the efforts of WTS. With our ongoing growth in the New York City region, recruiting the best women and men in every transportation discipline is a priority.”

HNTB was selected for this award in large part because of its commitment to advancing women. The firm utilizes a variety of recruitment techniques including national and local career fairs, internships and co-operative work/study programs.

HNTB’s New York office currently has 20 active WTS members including two who serve in leadership and committee roles. Nationally, HNTB has more than 350 WTS members, including 15 female senior executives, and 30 of the firm’s employees are either current or former national and chapter level leaders.
