Mobile applications are incredibly important when it comes to operating in the field, connectivity to the back office, integration when conducting field reports, providing access to documents, and speeding up the workflow.

Updating its growing list of rankings aimed at small and medium-sized businesses looking for the best cloud-based solutions for their company, GetApp has released its ranking of the top field service management solutions for Q1 2016, with HouseCall Pro, GeoOp, mHelpDesk, ProntoForms, and GoSpotCheck making the top five, respectively.

The field service management ranking is calculated using five distinct data points. The data points include user reviews, security, integrations, mobile app availability, and media presence. Each data point is worth 20 points for an overall score of 100.

HouseCall Pro scored highest with a 76 and was boosted by high scores in reviews, integrations, and mobile. GeoOp followed closely behind with a score of 74 and the highest security score (16) in the top five. mHelpDesk, ProntoForms, and GoSpotCheck rounded out the top five with scores of 68, 63, and 60, respectively, for a close race.

Integrations are calculated using the total number of app integrations listed on GetApp, while the reviews data point is calculated by factoring in the number of reviews on GetApp and the app’s average user rating. Mobile scores are calculated by pulling data from the App Store and Google Play regarding the app’s availability, while the number of Facebook followers and Twitter fans that an app has are used to calculate media presence. Finally, the security score is calculated using answers from a vendor-completed security survey that’s based on the Cloud Security Alliance’s Self-Assessment Form.
