Weekend-long homage brings 1950's to the 1800's in historic Galena, Ill.

It’s time to slip on a poodle skirt or slick back the hair because Galena Goes 50s delivers fast movin' fun in downtown Galena, Ill. Enjoy a dance-filled 1950s weekend with local businesses featuring 2 nights of live music, dance workshops, a sock hop, contests, prizes, craft beer and more.

Swing into to the Galena Brewing Co. Fri. Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. and dance to the good ol’ rock n roll beat of Roackabilly Junction all night long. Spend all day Sat., Feb. 27, perfecting moves at dance workshops from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Turner Hall where guests learn how to Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Salsa and Hustle from a professional dance instructor. Register for a class early.

Finish out the weekend with a Sock Hop at Turner Hall Sat., Feb 27, at 7 p.m. Enjoy live music as The Tailfins perform a get-up-and-dance musical tribute to early rock ‘n’ roll. There are also fun games, a cash bar and prizes. Save the date and #GetToGalena for Galena Goes ‘50s.
