“We felt the responsibility to accept and meet the needs of these higher medical acuity patients that are referred to us in the midst of a psychiatric emergency.” - Bill Brattvet, Chief Executive Officer at Haven Behavioral Hospital of Frisco

Haven Behavioral Hospital of Frisco and NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals (NPH) recently joined in an alliance to better serve the behavioral and medical needs of the North Texas community.

NPH is an Indiana-based system of acute psychiatric hospitals that has an innovative approach to treatment that evaluates chronic behavioral and emotional disorders that may have a psychiatric, neurological or medical basis. This treatment ideology came from the desire to provide the most comprehensive care possible for these patients.

The North Texas region has many medically fragile older adults who experience a mental health crisis and cannot access inpatient psychiatric services because of the complexity of their medical condition. As a result, many of these individual’s psychiatric needs are left unmet. Haven Behavioral Hospital is pleased to announce the launch of its new Med-Psych program that addresses both the mental health and critical medical issues of this population. In association with NPH, Haven has enhanced many of its medical protocols, added medical staff and improved the spectrum of services available to treat medically complex patients.

“The population is living longer with increased medical and behavioral health conditions,” says Bill Brattvet, Chief Executive Officer at Haven Behavioral Hospital of Frisco. “We felt the responsibility to accept and meet the needs of these higher medical acuity patients that are referred to us in the midst of a psychiatric emergency.”

Through the collaboration with NPH, Haven will continue to provide the high quality patient care the community has come to appreciate. Haven’s team will work closely with healthcare organizations in the area to offer education on the increased acuity level of services available to their patients. In addition, the admission process from patient crisis to the hospital will be streamlined so that treatment can begin as quickly as possible.

“NPH is pleased to collaborate with Haven to offer these much needed services to the North Texas area,” says Dr. Cameron Gilbert, President and CEO of NPH. “Our goal and mission is to provide appropriate assessment, treatment and care so that patients are always supported in achieving their wellness goals.”
