VIF International Education Adds Dr. James H. Johnson Jr. to Board of Directors
Chapel Hill, North Carolina (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- VIF International Education, a global education partner of K-12 schools and districts, announces the addition of Dr. James Johnson to its Board of Directors. Dr. Johnson is the William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Urban Investment Strategies Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
His research interests include community and economic development, the effects of demographic changes on the U.S. workplace, interethnic minority conflict in advanced industrial societies, urban poverty and public policy, and workforce diversity issues.
“It is high honor for me to serve on the Board of Directors of VIF International Education,” said Dr. Johnson. “The company’s laser-like and unwavering commitment to helping K-12 schools and districts redesign public education for 21st century realities is vitally important — a strategic imperative — for our nation and our young people in a hyper-competitive global economy where the new normal is ‘certain uncertainty.’ I am convinced that schools and districts that embrace the VIF International Education model will do a much better job of preparing their students to compete, thrive, and prosper in an increasingly borderless world.”
Dr. Johnson has spent the past two decades examining and testing strategies for successfully implementing equity in public education, with a concentration on children who live in areas of concentrated poverty. Johnson has helped build and launch Global Scholars Academy, a public charter school in Durham, N.C., which strives to provide a world-class education for some of the city’s most vulnerable children.
"We are so pleased to add Dr. Johnson to our Board,” said VIF International Education CEO David Young. “He embodies our mission of global education for all in his work and life, striving to ensure all students have access to an education that will prepare them for our increasingly interconnected global society and economy."
Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science from North Carolina Central University, Masters of Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
