World-Renowned Architect Grover Dear Joins Academy of Art University as Executive Director of the School of Interior Architecture & Design
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- Academy of Art University is pleased to announce that Grover C. Dear Jr.—a 45-year veteran of the architectural profession who launched his career at I.M. Pei & Partners—has joined the faculty leadership as the new executive director of the School of Interior Architecture & Design. Dear will be on site in San Francisco on a full-time basis starting this summer.

Dear—one of the 20 “World’s Leading Design Names of 2016,” according to the U.K.-based interior design magazine "Design et al"—is a registered, authorized architect in Hong Kong; a registered architect in California, Georgia, and Florida with NCARB certification; and a registered architect in the United Kingdom with ARB certification. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a founding member of the Hong Kong chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Dear is also a design critic, guest lecturer, and professional advisor to various educational venues (including the Department of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the San Francisco Design Center).
Dear attended the Faculté des Lettres of L’Université de Dijon in 1969 before receiving his bachelor of architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1972. Upon graduation, he apprenticed at the famed architecture firm I.M. Pei & Partners in New York and later moved to John Portman and Associates in Atlanta. In 1980, he relocated to Asia to establish Portman’s Hong Kong operation.
In 1987, Dear founded ARCHASIA, a global architecture firm based in Hong Kong. From 2003 to 2005, he served as chief design consultant for the Hong Kong Four Seasons and ifc Mall.
During his illustrious career, Dear has provided distinctive architecture, interior, and master planning design services to international clients in the luxury residential, corporate, and hospitality markets.
