Locus Energy Monitors More than Two Gigawatts U.S. Solar Capacity across Residential, Commercial, Industrial & Utility Sectors
Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) February 03, 2016 -- Today, Locus Energy, a performance monitoring and data analytics platform provider for the solar photovoltaic (PV) market in the residential, commercial, and utility sectors, announced that its solar monitoring fleet has surpassed 2.0 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity in the U.S. Since 2014, Locus has added more than 900 MW of monitored solar capacity, which is an increase of 88 percent. This milestone reflects record growth in the solar monitoring sector, which has outpaced solar market growth as owners and operators retrofit already installed systems with monitoring, and install monitoring on new solar PV systems as they come online.
According to the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA)’s Solar Industry Data report (http://www.seia.org/research-resources/us-solar-market-insight), there were roughly 24 GW of total installed solar capacity in the U.S. at the end of Q4 2015, which means that Locus Energy now monitors roughly eight percent of that installed solar capacity across more than 91,500 sites. Locus has added more than 25,000 monitored sites in the past year, which is an increase of 39 percent since 2014.
“Over the past few years, solar PV monitoring has matured as both a technology and an industry. Locus Energy surpassing such a large capacity milestone speaks to the ever-increasing importance of solar monitoring and analytics in today’s energy landscape,” said Michael Herzig, CEO of Locus Energy. “As the solar industry continues to grow and develop, a deep understanding of performance will be increasingly important, and we are looking forward to growing with it.”
Additionally, Locus Energy has been named to the 2015 Global Cleantech 100 under the Radar list, produced by Cleantech Group, whose mission is to connect corporations to sustainable innovation through its i3 Connect platform and global events.
The inaugural Global under the Radar list spotlights companies, such as Locus Energy, that are flying “under the radar,” but have garnered significant interest from the Global Cleantech 100 Expert Panelists. The Expert Panel consists of an influential group of 100 panelists who help determine the annual Global Cleantech 100 list. The diversity of panelists results in a list of companies that command an expansive base of respect and support from many important players within the global cleantech innovation ecosystem.
The complete list of the Global Cleantech 100 Under the Radar list was revealed on January 26, 2016. See the full list at: http://www.cleantech.com/indexes/global-cleantech-100/2015-under-the-radar/
