Innovators at Turner Recognized for Outstanding Achievement
New York, New York (PRWEB) February 03, 2016 -- Turner is pleased to announce the winners of the Turner Construction Company Award for Innovation.
The award recognizes and rewards individuals and groups for the development and implementation of ideas that have resulted in outstanding achievement at Turner.
Now in its fourth year, the program offers four levels of cash prizes up to $10,000 and provides teams the opportunity to request resources for the further development of an innovative idea. Since the company launched the award, more than 900 employees have shared their ideas to make Turner a better company, and winning teams have earned $225,000 in prizes.
Determined by a jury of Turner’s Regional Lean Managers, this year’s winning teams were selected from more than 100 applications. Their engagement reflects the passion and creativity of Turner’s employees, and a strong culture of continuous improvement.
The two top winners for 2015 offered solutions to issues faced every day at Turner and across the construction industry: Ray LaFuente’s submission addressed the continuous improvement of the safety, health, and wellbeing of Turner’s people and partners on jobsites, and Juliet Menditto and Lisa Hickerson’s submission addressed standardization of key business practices to improve the efficiency of preconstruction activities. Peter Davoren, president and chief executive officer, formally presented them with their awards at a recent meeting of Turner’s senior leadership.
“This year’s award applications address a broad range of topics, from building a culture of safety and supporting the adoption of lean practices, to facilitating access to resources and tools and enhancing employee connectivity,” said Jim Barrett, chief innovation officer. “The diversity of the applications demonstrates that employees from every job family and at every level of the company are engaged in trying to make Turner the best builder it can be. It also reflects the strong alignment of our people with the goals and strategies that drive us as we pursue our company vision.”
