Blackstone and DHS’ partnership to design and build the application security framework known as Carwash resulted in a valuable shared service to DHS OCIO that focuses on delivering secure and compliant applications to the Federal government. Carwash reduces time to market and increases security of applications by providing scan results to development teams throughout their development lifecycle. Identifying application vulnerabilities and issues early in the lifecycle reduces the risk of deployment delays and costly re-work, and has helped numerous teams across DHS successfully deploy mobile applications.

DHS Information Technology FY 2015-2018 Strategic Plan states that, “The DHS Carwash is a one-stop-shop for mobile application testing hosted by DHS OCIO. The service provides a streamlined process by which government development teams expedite the building, testing, and deployment of applications. DHS Carwash enables DevOps and is capable of supporting commonly-used development methodologies such as Agile.”

"DHS is at the forefront of technology and innovation, driving positive change through effective leadership and mission-driven solutions. Blackstone is thrilled to deliver a state-of-the-art Rugged DevOps shared service which supports DHS’ IT mission of providing excellence in information technology,” said Giles Kesteloot, Senior Director of Blackstone Federal Services.

Blackstone Technology Group’s Federal Services practice has a 13-year partnership with DHS and provides premier expertise in cloud, cyber, Agile, and DevOps. “It’s critical that we don’t dilute ourselves across a laundry list of capabilities,” says Kesteloot. “Our people are without question our greatest asset, so we invest heavily in their growth and they in-turn apply their passion and talents to help our customers achieve big things.”
