WebEOC to be Used by SFDEM During This Sunday's Big Game
San Francisco (PRWEB) February 05, 2016 -- SFDEM, will deploy WebEOC, the Intermedix incident management software, to support efforts to ensure public health and safety at the game this Sunday between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers at Levi’s Stadium.
The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, or SFDEM, a 240 member emergency management organization, will operate San Francisco’s Emergency Operations Center, or EOC, with local, state and federal agencies.
Professionals at the EOC will utilize WebEOC, the industry leading incident management software, to ensure situational awareness and information management during the events planned throughout the week leading up to and during the big game.
“In San Francisco, it’s more than just the big game,” said Anne Kronenberg, executive director of the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management. “It is nine days of public activities.”
“WebEOC allows us to monitor and proactively address potential hazards by coordinating the efforts of the numerous agencies working throughout the week to uphold the health and safety of those taking part in this week’s festivities,” explained Kronenberg.
In addition to providing the software, Intermedix will also support SFDEM on the ground. Dedicated Intermedix emergency management experts will be deployed onsite at the EOC to support SFDEM’s efforts throughout the week.
“Recent events have made it clear that it is imperative we do everything we can to ensure safety during major sporting events,” said Joel Portice, CEO of Intermedix. “We are proud to provide our continued support for the professionals and volunteers assisting in this week’s events with both technology and expertise to ensure the health and safety of those participating in the festivities.”
According to NBC News, security at this weekend’s game has been given increased focus following the November Paris attacks. With safety concerns still high in the U.S., there is a strong emphasis placed on the need to operate a tight event.
WebEOC provides emergency management professionals with the ability to manage critical resources and information during both emergency and large-scale events. In addition to this Sunday’s big game, WebEOC is utilized around the world to manage local, regional and national events.
