KO Distilling Achieves Highest Recognition in International Competition
Manassas, VA (PRWEB) February 11, 2016 -- KO Distilling recently received an individual award as Virginia Moonshine Distillery of the Year at the 6th Annual New York International Spirits Competition. This brings co-founders Bill Karlson and John O'Mara to a huge milestone just 2 years after founding. In addition to being awarded with this high honor, they were also awarded a Bronze Medal for their Virginia Moon White Whiskey. In receiving these honors, KO Distilling was recognized among 500 distilleries spanning across 35 countries. The judges in the New York International Spirits Competition consisted of several trade buyers including restaurateurs, mixologists, retail wine buyers, distributors and importers. The spirits were judged by category and actual price. “We are honored to receive the two awards at the New York International Spirits Competition, which was our first competition” says Karlson. “It is a testament to all the hard work we’ve put in to making our new craft distillery a success.”
In addition to these honors, KO Distilling also received a Virginia's Finest certification from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, giving KO a seal of superior products. Only the top-quality Virginia-made products that meet or exceed the standards of state and federal regulations are eligible for this certification. Applicants are reviewed by the Virginia's Finest Review Committee who then verify the product to be premium quality or not.
KO Distilling's co-founders Karlson and O'Mara share a military background and strive to preserve Manassas' historical appeal while serving premium, top quality products that craft distillery connoisseurs of all kinds desire to taste. Their award winning Virginia Moon White Whiskey is made entirely from scratch and is double-distilled using Virginia wheat, Virginia rye and malted barley. This mixture of grains gives it its smooth flavor making it simply enjoyable on the rocks. KO Distilling is currently the 19th registered distillery in the Commonwealth.
Battle standard 142 Navy Strength (Code 29314) is now available in 100 ABC stores across the commonwealth, and our Virginia Moon White Whiskey (Code 27910) and Battle Standard 142 Standard Strength (Code 29316) are available through special order at any ABC store. In addition, KO Distilling has recently partnered with Schneider’s of Capitol Hill to sell their products on store shelves in Washington D.C. and online to 38 states.
