Studio A64 Hosts Grand Re-opening Under New Owners; Celebrates Three Year Anniversary
Colorado Springs, Colorado (PRWEB) February 11, 2016 -- Studio A64, a Colorado Springs-based cannabis club, will host a grand re-opening this Saturday under its new ownership. Wanda Stark and Ambur Racek purchased Studio A64 at 332 E. Colorado Avenue from founder KC Stark last October. Studio A64 is the Gold Winner of the Indy's Best in Colorado Springs award, voted best cannabis club in 2015. After learning that Studio A64 was for sale, the duo bought “the original cannabis club” with an eye toward transforming the existing business to an upscale establishment with an Amsterdam-inspired coffee shop ambiance. Gone is the red, buffalo-inspired décor, replaced by calming hues that complement exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. Art from local artists adorn the walls.
The newly remodeled Studio A64 will offer:
• a new signature line of non-alcoholic artisan coffees and drinks;
• an expanded menu that includes fresh, delicious food—ranging from pastries and appetizers to hearty chilis and comfort food that will please the most discerning palettes;
• live music and a variety of events, including “Canvas and Cannabis” painting classes, First Friday ArtWalk, Comedy Night, and Game Day;
• a sundry of educational classes and workshops—marijuana and non-marijuana related.
Membership starts at $5.00 for a one-day pass. Must be 21 years of age or older.
“Our goal from the onset was to create a meeting house of sorts, where people can gather and enjoy fresh, delicious food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere,” said Wanda Stark.
Stark, a widow whose husband Greg Stark, a retired Army Master Sergeant who managed the Department of Disabled American Veterans Office in Colorado Springs after his retirement from the military, battled cancer for many years until his death in 2013, one day before Thanksgiving. Eating was very painful and difficult for Greg due to cancer treatment that destroyed his salivary glands. For some time, he was able to take nourishment only through a feeding tube, directly into his stomach. After her husband was introduced to medical marijuana, Wanda, who has never used marijuana, saw a noticeable improvement in Greg’s quality of life. He was able to eat on his own and enjoy what Wanda describes as a “reasonably normal life.”
“Chronic illness and pain is hard enough,” Stark commented. “It can also be very isolating. I was grateful to see how effective marijuana was in taking the edge off of Greg’s pain and improving his ability to cope with his deteriorating health and impending death. Losing Greg was devastating but I’m at peace knowing that he had some semblance of a normal life before he died.”
Through this experience, Wanda gained first-hand knowledge and an appreciation for marijuana and its benefits. That’s why when Racek, a fitness instructor with an extensive background in the food service industry, approached her with the idea of starting a cannabis club, Wanda was quick to agree.
The keys to Studio A64 were turned over to Stark and Racek on November 1, 2015. The two have been hard at work, transforming the club into a coffee shop/ meeting house with a clean, fresh appearance that is more inviting to patrons.
"The Southern Colorado Cannabis Council is very honored to work with Studio A64 and to represent them in our political work,” said Jason Warf, Executive Director of the Southern Colorado Cannabis Council. “Cannabis consumption clubs are a necessity to both the medical and the recreational markets here in Colorado. Studio A64 and our other members strive to be responsible owners and provide the best service possible to their patrons. Wanda Stark and Ambur Racek go way beyond what we look for in our membership and set an example for the rest to follow. Congratulations on Studio A64’s grand re-opening! We wish them many years of success!"
