The “Best New Ski App” SkiLynx is Now Available for Colorado, Utah and Wyoming
San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) February 10, 2016 -- SkiLynx, this winter’s best new app for skiers and snowboarders, has released new features and content in time for Presidents’ Weekend, expanding to cover the nation’s top ski resorts across the West.
Since its launch in December, SkiLynx has been hailed by Outside Magazine as, “The best new ski app for keeping track of your friends on the hill,” and by Men’s Fitness as “one of the best health and fitness apps for Apple Watch.”
The app, which premiered with ski resorts in California, now includes the top resorts in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, as well as new social and sharing features. Skiers and snowboarders can download SkiLynx 2.0 for iPhone and Apple Watch for $2.99 starting today: http://www.skilynx.com/getapp
“We’re really excited to bring SkiLynx to the top resorts across the U.S., enabling skiers and snowboarders in the Rockies, Tetons, Wasatch and beyond to easily find and connect with their friends on the slopes,” said Sarah W. Stocker, co-founder of Wearlynx, Inc., creators of SkiLynx.
In addition to the expanded resort coverage, SkiLynx 2.0 includes new social features including Facebook login, and the ability to post favorite runs, ski day summary, or full ski season summary to Facebook or Twitter with just a touch. The app also lets you share your ski day in real-time with friends who are relaxing at the base lodge or viewing enviously from work. They can watch your progress live on the app's integrated resort map and join in the group chat.
SkiLynx offers several functions never before seen in apps for skiers and snowboarders, including the ability to pinpoint if friends are going up or down the mountain and what percentage along they are on a chairlift or run, making it easier than ever to find and meet up on the slopes.
The app also includes unprecedented Smart Messaging features with location-aware hashtags that know where you are, even when you don’t. The one-tap message "I’m on #here" becomes "I’m on Ajax Express" when riding Ajax at Aspen, or “Meet me at #here” becomes “Meet me at Base Lodge” while at the base lodge.
“We continue to enhance our proprietary algorithms for SkiLynx with improved ski run and lift detection at all resorts,” said Mark Danks, Wearlynx, Inc. co-founder. “Our algorithms automatically account for crisscrossing trails, riding up vs. skiing down, and two-way chairlifts, so you always know where you and your friends are on the mountain.”
Using location-based tracking and one-tap chat, SkiLynx lets friends stay in touch effortlessly, whether they are trying to meet up at the lift or stay in contact while exploring different areas of the mountain.
“We love to ski with friends and family, but everyone has different styles and speeds,” continued Stocker. "SkiLynx makes it easy to stay connected with friends without interrupting your day so you’re freed up to enjoy the snow."
To use the app, skiers and riders pick the friends or family they are skiing with that day using SkiLynx’s one-touch, invite-only group creation. Then, with a quick look at their iPhone or Apple Watch, SkiLynx lets them see exactly what run or chairlift each person in the group is on, in real-time, including the run difficulty rating, their percentage down the trail, and their current location on the resort map. Customizable quick messages let skiers chat with the group with just one tap.
SkiLynx also offers the latest weather updates, open chairlift and trail counts at each resort, and a My Ski Day summary email at the end of the day with the group’s ski history and favorite runs.
