Xpanxion and Business Leaders Participate in White House Roundtable Discussion, “Rural Means Business”
ATLANTA, Georgia (PRWEB) February 10, 2016 -- Xpanxion, a custom software services provider that is deeply entrenched in the TechHire Nebraska initiative, recently participated in a roundtable discussion at the White House in Washington, D.C.
The White House roundtable discussion, “Rural Means Business” was held to bring together technology executives from the private sector and government officials to continue to drive the TechHire initiative forward. The TechHire initiative, introduced by President Obama in the spring of 2015, is a collaborative effort between the businesses, communities, and government to create pathways for individuals to obtain well-paying tech jobs and meet urgent employer demand across the U.S. Discussion during the meeting focused on leveraging existing educational institutions, funding, and a call to action to mobilize the private sector to support the TechHire initiative.
Participants in the roundtable included government officials and a variety of executives from various industries. These executives shared how their organizations are affected by the lack of available technology talent, and expressed an interest in collaborating on solutions to the issue. The discussion was led by two of President Obama’s Cabinet members, Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack and Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez. In attendance from Xpanxion was COO, Chad Sanders. In response to the roundtable, Sanders said, “The meeting was transformational – individuals, all with differing credentials and perspectives, are in lockstep to move TechHire forward. The unwavering support during the meeting solidifies the fact that we all want to make this a reality.”
Xpanxion became a partner of the TechHire Nebraska initiative at its inception and was instrumental in its development. The company developed processes for recruiting, screening, assessing, and training candidates without traditional IT backgrounds. Xpanxion has successfully executed these processes both internally and as part of the initiative. The company has been particularly successful in lower population areas as well as in rural communities.
