Parents Worship Day on 14 Feb: A Campaign by Asharam Ji Bapu for the Global Well-Being
Matawan, New Jersey (PRWEB) February 11, 2016 -- The 14th day of February is set to be celebrated again as "Parents Worship Day” or “Divine Valentine’s Day” across the Globe. The idea of celebrating love by appreciating parents on this day has been initiated by an Indian spiritual Guru -Saint Asharam Ji Bapu. According to him, “The current concept of “Valentine's Day” celebration, has become immensely devastating for the young boys and girls due to its fast emerging adverse consequences in the name of ‘celebrating love'.
“Today’s young generation, mostly the teenagers and adolescents do not realize what is true love and they mistakenly believe that mere indulgence in the lustful activities is called love, which is an absolutely destructive illusion”, says the saint.
Elaborating further about love and lust, Asharam Ji Bapu says, “Passion and lust give a bad name to love. There is a big difference between love and lust. Lust is centered in the lower Chakras and gives rise to sexual excitement, the thoughtless gratification of desires; while love is centered in the upper Chakras of the human body. It makes one thoughtful, gives eternal joy and helps one behold oneself in all creatures.”
Why Parents’ Worship Day instead of Valentine’s Day?
As per Innocenti Report Card issue No.3, in 28 developed countries, 1.25 million teenage girls become pregnant, out of which 500,000 choose to undergo an abortion and 750,000 become teenage mothers. The US has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world, as per Candie's Foundation. Furthermore, eight out of ten, teen fathers do not marry the mother of their child. In the US alone, 3 million teenage boys and girls get afflicted with Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
The underlying ideology of this campaign as per the organization believes that if the children of today are to be saved out of this rapidly increasing disaster, they need to be guided and shown a right path for leading a vibrant, virtuous and meaningful life.
Emphasizing more upon the same, Neelam Dubey- the official spokesperson of Shri Yoga Vedant Seva Samiti says, “Bapuji (Asharam Ji Bapu) believes that instead of saying, ‘Don’t do this,' tell people, ‘Do this.' When the good things are practiced, evil habits are automatically abandoned. Hence, he promotes this idea so that by celebrating Parents’ Worship Day, children will learn true love and true virtue, and they will also get their parent’s blessing. They will be saved from lust and passion and will excel in studies. And after marriage, they will give birth to children, of course, living a life of restraint and moderation”.
Why 14th of February?
“Because it's marked on our calendars as ‘Love’s Day’ already. Considering the essence of the celebration of love, the significance of this day must be targeted, but not restricted to, the youth. Hence, this is an event that can be celebrated by all; irrespective of age, caste, creed, or religion, as love for parents is, after all, universal. Ultimately, all parents want their children to lead a healthy, blissful and stress-free righteous life”, says Neelam.
The campaign of Parents Worship Day celebration has received notable endorsements and coverage internationally; that includes the US Senator Sam Thompson, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, The President of India- Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, Bollywood stars- Govinda, Shreyas Talpade, Mugdha Godse to name a few.
Apart from this, the UK media BBC has also covered the idea of “Parents Worship Day” for the last two years while it remained a worldwide trending topic on Twitter.
Parents Worship Day celebrations have become official in all schools and colleges in Chhattisgarh- a state of India. Along with Chhattisgarh, the event has received appreciation letters from various state governments, including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, and Karnataka as well as from the hundreds of school Principals and support from many saints across the country, per the reference given on ashram official website.
“It’s a very noble effort that Parents Worship Day is celebrated this way”, expresses Anuradha Poudawal, famous playback singer in India.
“When a child respects parents, the Father of the Universe gives joy in his heart”, says the Pioneer Saint of this initiation. Hence, the campaign spotlights on the vision that, celebrating this day in such a conscious manner will have only positive outcomes like increased parental care, awareness about individual responsibilities, and inculcation of moral and cultural values. It is a step to reunite families. In short, this has the potential to bring about a social awakening that will go beyond religion and belief.
