G DATA to Launch Enhancements to Mobile Security Solutions at Mobile World Congress 2016
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 12, 2016 -- More and more people are checking their email or carrying out banking transactions on a mobile device. Eighty-seven percent of the U.S. population ages 18 and above owned or had regular access to a mobile phone in 2014. (Source: Federal Reserve Board, 2015). In order to protect the digital privacy of users, G DATA, the world’s longest standing antivirus provider, is integrating a virtual private network (VPN) function into their new Mobile Internet Security for Android and iOS. This new function will be launched at Mobile World Congress 2016, February 22-25 in Barcelona where G DATA will present at Booth 6B40, Hall 6.
Whether at home or on the move, a VPN prevents unauthorized individuals from stealing passwords, delivery addresses and account access details via public Wi-Fi networks. The VPN module can be purchased as an option to the existing G DATA mobile solution. The feature will first be launched for Android devices.
“More and more people are using mobile devices to handle transactions involving sensitive information such as bank account numbers, credit card numbers, home addresses, and more. At the same time, people are increasingly on-the-go, handling these activities on public Wi-Fi networks all over town, not just at home,” said Andy Hayter, security evangelist, G DATA. “Because of this, we felt it was important to update our security solution with this new virtual private network feature to give users more flexibility to do what they need to do, wherever they need to do it, and not worry about their personal, online safety and security.”
How a VPN works
The VPN module in G DATA Mobile Internet Security encrypts all Internet traffic, whether it is on a public or private Wi-Fi network or on mobile networks anywhere in the world. The VPN client establishes an encrypted tunnel, which not only protects the user's digital identity, but also makes the smartphone or tablet invisible to data thieves. Personal data is shielded by high security servers and protected against hacking.
Comprehensive protection of privacy
With the integrated VPN function, users no longer need to install another solution to protect themselves on public networks. If installed, the integrated VPN module switches on automatically in the background when users surf the Internet, check email or carry out financial transactions with their smartphones or tablets.
Price and availability
Users who are already using G DATA’s security solution on their smartphone or tablet can purchase the VPN module for $2.99 USD per month or $29.99 USD per year. The VPN feature will first be released for Android, and it will be available for iOS later in the year.
Simply Secure in Barcelona
