State of Illinois Approves OSF HealthCare's Request for Freestanding Emergency Center in Streator
Streator, IL (PRWEB) February 16, 2016 -- Plans by OSF HealthCare to establish a freestanding emergency center at the OSF Center for Health - Streator received unanimous approval today from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
Staff, including board-certified emergency medicine physicians, are already in place receiving patients in Streator. The facility will transition from an urgent care facility to a freestanding emergency center following licensure by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), which OSF believes will occur soon. The facility is already able to accept patients via ambulance, thanks to a waiver granted by the IDPH.
The transition from an urgent care to a freestanding emergency center will add to the growing array of patient services offered at the OSF Center for Health – Streator including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, outpatient procedures and rehabilitation services. Additionally, physician clinics, including family and internal medicine providers, as well as a cardiologist, are located at the facility.
“We thank the Board for their quick response to our request,” said David Gorenz, M.D., Regional CEO, OSF Healthcare System. “Addressing the health care priorities for those we serve in Streator is of paramount importance to OSF. Next will be the site selection and construction of a state-of-the-art outpatient medical facility for Streator.”
Plans for the proposed site are to be announced soon.
