The CTO Forum selection jury, consisting of members from Finnish technology industries, selected awardees from two categories: SMEs and large corporations. Antti Nivala from M-Files was recognized as the CTO of the year in the SME category, and Ilari Kallio from Wärtsilä was named as the CTO of the Year 2016 in the large corporation category. In the awardee election, the emphasis was put on radical innovations.

In his role as CTO since 2012, Antti Nivala has driven the product development of M-Files. From 2005 to 2012, Nivala served as the CEO of M-Files, which he founded.
