The Little Star is my attempt to help keep Charlie’s memory alive and to support families who have to face the daily reality that their little one has died.

According to a recent Save the Children report, one million newborns around the world die each year on their first and only day of life. From this staggering statistic, millions of families around the globe are not only trying to come to terms with the loss of their child, but also trying to find a way to convey what has happened to the other young ears in their household.

Having personally witnessed her close friends battle through the loss of their five-day old son Charlie, Kay Moorby felt inspired to show her support by writing her new book, “The Little Star” as a way of helping other grieving families and a dedication to Charlie.

“I have watched this brave family battle through their pain, desperately trying to turn a tragedy into something positive and to keep the memory of their precious boy alive,” Moorby said.

Specifically focusing on helping children handle the death of a baby sibling, “The Little Star” aims to provide advice and discussion questions that the entire family can benefit from. In the hopes of supporting families that are going through a similar experience, Moorby wants her book to start a conversation on the issue.

“The Little Star is my attempt to help keep Charlie’s memory alive and to support families who have to face the daily reality that their little one has died,” Moorby said.
