Corepoint Integration Engine successfully completed testing in 16 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles, including new FHIR-based profiles aimed at exchanging data in a more modern, mobile-friendly way.
IHE Connectathon participation is key for health IT vendors to prove, in a non-competitive environment, that their product’s health data exchange capabilities are compatible with other products in use throughout the healthcare industry.
This is the seventh year that Corepoint Health has successfully completed testing at the IHE Connectathon.
IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and the industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. The event was held for the second year in a row at HIMSS Innovation Center and Cleveland Convention Center.
According to Corepoint Health Product Manager Rob Brull, four notable tests for 2016 revolved around the new FHIR standard. Key profiles in patient identification and regional connectivity space, including PDQm, PIXm and MHD, were extended to support a mobile infrastructure. Mobile alerting was also introduced through the mACM profile. All of these profiles made for a more challenging and inventive week of testing for participating vendors.
HL7 FHIR is an emerging health data standard that promises to help health IT software vendors more easily exchange patient data between applications. Many in the industry believe that HL7 FHIR, which utilizes modern approaches to data exchange similar to Facebook, Twitter and Amazon, is the long-awaited answer to healthcare’s current interoperability challenges.
“For many IHE connectathons Corepoint Health has proven its ability to identify patients and exchange appropriate data. This year had an added twist in that the same profiles were now converted to support mobile communication based on the FHIR standard.
