Novus Medical Detox Center Appoints Executive Director Kent Runyon as Vice President of Community Relations
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- To support the planned expansion of its Florida drug treatment facilities, Novus Medical Detox Center today announced that Kent Runyon has been appointed as Vice President of Community Relations. This expanded role will leverage Runyon’s industry expertise and experience at the helm of the organization to form strategic partnerships that will uphold Novus’ standards of care throughout the lifecycle of each patient’s recovery.
Runyon, who joined Novus in 2013 as Executive Director, was recently promoted to Chief Strategy and Compliance Officer to reflect the full scope of his role within the organization.* Beyond those internal responsibilities, Novus has charged Runyon with creating a network of alliances in communities throughout Florida and the Southeast; and to that end, he will also serve as VP of Community Relations.
“I am honored that Novus has entrusted me with overseeing the organization’s expansion as we aim to bring the highest-quality drug treatment programs to individuals throughout the region,” said Runyon. “Our detoxification and withdrawal programs represent the critical first step on the road to recovery. As Vice President of Community Relations, my goal is to ensure continuity of care and the best possible outcomes for patients, from their initial referral to a detoxification program through the rehabilitation and recovery phases of treatment.”
Novus offers medically supervised alcohol and drug detox programs that help patients safely manage the difficult withdrawal process from opiates, opioids, benzodiazepines and other commonly abused substances. While some drug treatment facilities transition patients to methadone, Novus employs an approach that avoids replacing one controlled substance with another. Not only does Novus offer methadone detox programs, but it is among the few facilities that accept high-dose methadone cases others refuse to treat.
Using proven medical protocols and individually customized treatment plans, Novus treats patients in a comfortable, residential setting with 24-hour access to nursing care and withdrawal specialists. Patients receive natural supplements, hydration and nutritionally balanced meals to help their bodies fully recover from the damaging effects of substance abuse.
“At Novus, we specialize only in withdrawal and detox, which can be regarded as the ‘stabilization’ step in the recovery process. From there, patients generally move onto some level of addiction treatment and other forms of continuing care,” explained Runyon. “In my capacity as Vice President of Community Relations, I intend to establish relationships with other professionals, agencies and organizations, including those who come into contact with individuals in need of medical detox services and those who address the subsequent stages of drug rehab and treatment. We will then work together to coordinate continuity of care for a well-rounded, holistic approach to our patients’ successful recovery, with a focus on optimal long-term outcomes.”
