Brad Fox Foundation Announces 4th Annual Officer Brad Fox 5K Run/1K Walk
Warminster, PA (PRWEB) February 23, 2016 -- The fourth annual Officer Brad Fox 5K Run / 1K Walk will benefit the Officer Brad Fox 5K Foundation, which has distributed about $100,000 to select charities in its first three years of existence.
Proceeds from this year’s 5K Run / 1K Walk will be donated to the Brad Fox Scholarship Fund at William Tennant High School, for a student who wishes to have a career in law enforcement or the military; breast cancer warrior Shannon McMahon (wife of Bensalem police officer Brian McMahon); the Duskin & Stephens Foundation, which supports the families of fallen members of Special Operations Forces; and the Bucks County Down Syndrome Interest Group.
The event will take place on Officer Bradley M. Fox Memorial Highway (event staging at Archbishop Wood High School), 655 York Rd. in Warminster, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 9am. Each runner and walker receives a special commemorative Finisher’s Prize in addition to a t-shirt and drinkware in a special commemorative rack package. The event will also feature fun events for kids of all ages, food, music, and more. The entry fees are $30 for the 5K Run and $20 for the 1K Walk until March 1, when prices go up by $10.
Brad Fox was a Warminster native, a Marine Corps veteran who served two tours in Iraq, and a member of the Plymouth Township Police Department. He was murdered in the line of duty on September 2012, a day before his 35th birthday. “We are so fortunate,” said Brad’s mother, Kathy Fox of Warminster, “to have such great people willing to work tirelessly to support the Officer Brad Fox 5K Foundation."
"It's a huge honor that we are able to close Brad's highway for our runners and walkers, and the support from the community and from our sponsors is astounding," said Darren Meehan, Event Coordinator. "Not only is this year's event bigger and better, but it affords us to chance to raise money for some great people and to continue to tell Brad's story for his children, which is why we started all of this four years ago. Continuing Brad's story on Brad's highway is special on several levels for us."
