AU10TIX: GOV.UK Verify’s 48% ID Authentication Completion Rate Can Be Increased With 2nd Gen. ID Authentication Technology
Nicosia, Cyprus (PRWEB) February 23, 2016 -- UK Verify identity assurance platform has been created by UK Government Digital Service to enable citizen “to prove who you are online” in order to facilitate effective and efficient government services such as viewing driving licence or filing tax. This trailblazing initiative is based on certified Identity Providers such as banks, payment services, identity verification services, telcos or postal services that can query personal data against existing records. However, while the core concept is logical and commendable “Government Computing” reports that “as of January 17, the authentication completion rate, used to count the proportion of visits to GOV.UK Verify with a successful outcome - defined as either user sign-in or account creation - was 48%” only. (Source: http://central-government.governmentcomputing.com/news/experian-vows-to-expand-govuk-verify-data-sources-4786830).
There are various possible reasons for such low performance rates. But one that is already well known to have a dramatic effect on abandonment rates is “Friction”. Friction refers to time, bother and comprehension issues involved in entering the data manually and/or waiting for the outcomes. "Friction is often blamed for up to 50%-75% abandonment rates at customer onboarding in online government and financial services", says AU10TIX: "Interestingly, the technology that can help reduce abandonment rates (while increasing ID fraud detection) already exists. AU10TIX’s BOS platform is the forerunner of 2nd generation ID authentication and record retrieval automation".
Unlike first generation solutions, BOS is 100% automated (no data entry required), 8-12 seconds fast (For the complete process) and can handle sub-optimal ID image qualities much better. Ideally, says AU10TIX, the GOV.UK Verify could be initiated with a simple “Click & Send”, not identity data entry required, and results obtained much more quickly. Such simpler, faster process could contribute not only to reduced friction but also add a significant layer of ID document authentication, making the service even better at fraud prevention.
“We’d be happy to introduce BOS technology to the GOV.UK Verify people”, says Ron Atzmon, Managing Director of AU10TIX: “What they’ve already done is exemplary. Now that the service has gained traction and experience, it may be time to look at increasing process completion rates. AU10TIX BOS can be a natural gateway for this process, making usage simple, accelerating processing, reducing human errors and increasing overall identity fraud protection“.
“AU10TIX technology is not new to government services”, says Ofer Friedman, VP Marketing of AU10TIX: “It already works in UK local government helping prevent benefit fraud. But GOV.UK Verify is at a whole different scale and with a different set of capabilities. One cannot underestimate the enterprise and open mindedness of the UK government in introducing latest technology to serve its citizen more effectively and safely, and in establishing the UK as leader and standard setter in these areas. AU10TIX is ready to work with GOV.UK and other government services towards implementing effective identity authentication and onboarding technologies in local government, civil services, border control and policing.“
