CLASP Advisors Teacher Training Brings Awareness and Empowerment to St. John XXIII Catholic School
Middletown, Ohio (PRWEB) February 19, 2016 -- CLASP Advisors brought two of its best trainers to St. John XXIII Catholic School this week to address the many security questions and fears that teachers and faculty face today. The first of a three-meeting series in the firm's program, CLASP Advisors spent two hours working with the Catholic elementary school's staff to take a human-based approach to what they see is predominantly a human problem. "A lot of people put all their confidence and money toward cameras, automated entry systems and other technology. These elements can be part of a solution, but in our view cannot be the sole answer; we believe in empowering people to be prepared and feel confident," said CLASP President Kevin Kimener.
Teachers all over the country are being exposed to various forms of training and drills to combat the rising occasions of violence in schools. St. John XXIII Principal Dawn Pickerill wanted to find a solution that went beyond some of the cookie cutter drill programs that are widely available. "We have completed the basic drills available in the state, but I felt like there were still gaps in our preparation that weren't addressed. CLASP Advisors has helped us with everything from innovative and affordable products to starting these trainings that reinforce resiliency. That's a core quality we value developing in our students, so it makes sense to foster it throughout our school."
Whereas many security firms advocate technology and rote drills, CLASP offers a more holistic approach that incorporates the empowerment of teachers and students along with regular trainings and drills to ensure that procedures are understood and followed by all in a case of emergency. "We see time and time again, dusty covered policy and procedure binders laying around schools, or manuals for equipment stuffed in drawers. None of it, the technology, the drills, are going to work in a traumatic situation if they haven't been practiced regularly in times of calm," Kimener shared.
Having built his company with the expertise of former military, civilian and other protective services experts, Kimener knows from his own experience as a Marine that training is everything. His curriculum is an annual program and he considers schools to be their partners in protection. For more information on CLASP Advisors and their programs, visit http://www.claspadvisors.com.
