Global Security Systems (GSS) Experiences Steady Growth in IPAWS Use
Lafayette, LA (PRWEB) February 22, 2016 -- Global Security Systems, LLC (GSS) announced today that they have seen steady growth in the amount of customers approved and using Alert Studio- their message origination portal- for Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (“IPAWS”) dissemination. The fully modernized version of IPAWS was released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”) in 2012 to provide a more efficient way to disseminate critical information to the public and other agencies during an emergency situation.
“As the popularity of the IPAWS system continues to grow throughout the emergency notification community, it is our hope to continue to capitalize on the use of the Alert Studio to disseminate critical information to the public,” Matthew Straeb, GSS Vice President, said. “We are in the process of implementing Alert Studio for IPAWS dissemination in an additional 22 counties across the South.”
Approximately 25 percent of GSS’s current customer base is using Alert Studio to issue IPAWS alerts and warnings. This includes state, parish, county, and city agencies who have issued Amber Alerts, traffic warnings, road closures or other critical information to the public via the IPAWS contact paths.
“Alert Studio IPAWS is an easy to use alert notification solution that seamlessly integrated into our daily and emergency operations. Alert Studio has made Warren County, Ohio a more prepared community to ensure our citizens safety,” Michael Bunner, Warren County Director of Emergency Services said.
Alert Studio provides a user-friendly web-based interface that allows IPAWS approved users to quickly send information to the public and other agencies via various contact paths which include:
• Emergency Alert System (“EAS”): information distributed across radio and television stations
• Non-Weather Emergency Messages (“NWEM”): information distributed to weather radios via NOAA radio towers
• Wireless Emergency Alerts (“WEA”): information distributed to WEA compatible smartphones via cellular networks
• Collaborative Operating Group (“COG”)-to- COG: information distributed directly to other agencies via the IPAWS system
“Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (‘GOHSEP’) uses Alert Studio as our IPAWS alert and warning portal,” Kevin Davis, GOHSEP director said. “The system provides a high degree of accuracy and dependability when issuing time sensitive emergency messages to the public.”
