Dubbed, PTA, the new Parent/Teacher Account helps homeschool parents produce the reports they need to stay in compliance.

Discovery K12, Inc., an online homeschool platform and curriculum, has launched a Parent/Teacher Account to assist homeschoolers with record keeping and reporting required by many states and for moving students on to college.

The new Parent/Teacher Account is the company’s first move to monetize using an affordable, freemium business model. Discovery K12 offers a complete, free curriculum that’s non-Common Core for pre-k to twelfth grade. “This has been a feature requested by parents for quite some time,” says Sheri Wells, founder of Discovery K12. “We have been philanthropic in our approach to date, and the freemium business model will help us continue to keep our curriculum free for students worldwide," says Wells.

It is very important for homeschoolers to maintain good records and to be in compliance with their state’s legal policies. These records can include attendance, health/immunization, completed assignments, and test-scores. The Parent/Teacher Account will help serve as a third-party resource for the parent should they find themselves in a truancy or legal situation.

The upgraded service adds detailed reporting on attendance, assignments, tests results, and curriculum tools that assists parents in educating their children at home. Other exciting features are the ability to produce transcripts and issue high school diplomas.
