The August Escoffier School of Culinary Arts Welcomes International Culinary Icons Michel Escoffier and Jeremiah Tower to Austin

Escoffier and Tower to Tour School and Preside Over Escoffier Events March 3-5, 2016

It is an honor and privilege to have Mr. Escoffier and Mr. Tower join us to celebrate the rich heritage of one of the most famous chefs in history, Auguste Escoffier, said Marcus McMellon, President of the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts Austin.

The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts located at 6020-B Dillard Circle, welcomes distinguished advisory board members Michel Escoffier and Jeremiah Tower to Austin this March.

“It is an honor and privilege to have Mr. Escoffier and Mr. Tower join us to celebrate the rich heritage of one of the most famous chefs in history, Auguste Escoffier,” said Marcus McMellon, Campus President of the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

Michel Escoffier, the great grandson of Master Chef Auguste Escoffier and president of the Escoffier Museum and Foundation in Villanueve - Loubet, France which is affiliated with the school along with Jeremiah Tower, the American celebrity chef who, along with Alice Waters, is generally credited with developing the culinary style known as California cuisine will spend quality time touring the school’s campus including its 6,000 square foot outdoor agricultural learning center and interacting with students, staff, employers and farm partners.

In addition to touring the school, Mr. Escoffier and Mr. Tower will preside over Escoffier related events including the induction of local Austin professionals into the prestigious Disciples d’Escoffier on March 3rd at Olive & June. Tower will also serve as the keynote speaker at the school’s graduation ceremony on March 5th at the Holiday Inn in Midtown.

With more than 20,000 members worldwide, the Disciples d’Escoffier is a premier international culinary society that honors the memory of Auguste Escoffier, promotes and preserves his work and promotes culinary education and apprenticeships encouraging people to discover the desire and motivation to work as professional chefs. New inductees include Jennifer Etzkin, Executive Chef of Corner Restaurant at the JW Marriott; Gene and Eileen Niswander, Owners of Yegua Creek Farms; Steven Rafferty, Lead Chef Instructor at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts Austin and Uyen Pham, Chef Instructor at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts Austin. Other celebrated guests attending the ceremony include the school’s distinguished International Advisory Committee members: Mary Chamberlin, the Founder and President of Les Dames d’Escoffier International – Monterey Bay Chapter and the National Vice Chair of the American Institute of Food & Wine; Candy Wallace, Founder & Executive Director of American Personal and Private Chefs Association; Michael Pythoud, Executive Chef of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney Entertainment Complex, Water Parks and Sport & Recreation Food and Beverage overseeing all dining experiences; and Kevin Gawronski, ACF-certified Master Chef.
