We are working towards a world where each and every shopper will be able to check out on their own mobile device in-store, with no need to wait in line and no need to interact with a traditional payment terminal.
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) February 23, 2016
Digital Retail Apps, today announced that it will begin licensing its purchase verification technology to merchants and partners. As well, the company has earned an additional patent on its system and method of facilitating secure self-payment transactions of retail goods. The new patent broadens Digital Retail Apps’ proprietary verification technology and helps to license the solution to other parties in various deployment methods.
The addition of the SelfPay Verify license allows third parties to integrate the award-winning technology with an in-market solution without requiring deployment work to begin from scratch. Retailers can deploy SelfPay at their stores by being listed in either the multi-retailer SelfPay app, a white label app built by Digital Retail Apps, or via the SelfPay Verify license that can be included alongside a retailers’ own branded app or both. Components of any existing solution can be made to work with SelfPay Verify to create an in-app payments option tailored to the specific retailer’s existing technology, shoppers and brand.
Digital Retail Apps’ first U.S. patent covers verification of in-app purchases made at brick and mortar locations using a mobile device camera to verify a barcoded digital receipt’s data. This newest patent broadens the invention to include any wireless means of transmitting mobile receipt data between a shopper and a retailer for the purpose of verifying an in-store/in-app purchase. Extending the patent to cover all means of wireless communication allows Digital Retail Apps to offer this technology for use by any merchant or solutions provider in their own app environment.
“Our IP portfolio from day one has been approached from a shopper-first mentality. We are working towards a world where each and every shopper will be able to check out on their own mobile device in-store, with no need to wait in line and no need to interact with a traditional payment terminal,” said Wendy MacKinnon Keith, CEO and Founder of Digital Retail Apps. “We solve the problem of what happens after that and how mobile payments can be applied to the brick and mortar model. Being able to verify a purchase was just the first step on our roadmap.”
